For CMT: Usually presents with normal development before the sensory and motor weakness appears in the first two decades of life. Assessment should include balance and motor skills such as running and other skills that require balance.

Hands are usually less affected than feet but assess both. Assessment of contractures is important especially of pes cavus and hammer toes and monitoring the spine. Assessment of hand function should include assessment by an Occupational Therapist and a review of ADL and writing ability.
