Revised Upper Limb Module (RULM)
Measurement framework:
Clinician reported outcome. Specifically designed for SMA upper limb function. Consists of 19 items and an Entry item to summarise arm function. Was expanded from the upper limb module for SMA (ULM) and additional items were aimed at assessment of higher functioning individuals. A higher score indicates a higher level of function. Score between 0 – 37 points. Captures right and left sides, if required. Limited clinical capacity makes it perfectly acceptable to capture one side only, although bilateral information may be useful.
ICF Domain:
Activity
Suitable for:
SMA of all types where it is important to capture upper limb function.
Level of function:
Ambulatory and non-ambulatory.
Clinical application:
It takes between 10 and 15 minutes to complete depending on the ability of the subject and if one or two sides are tested.
Training / training material
Training advised to ensure accurate delivery of the scale. Need a specific kit to conduct this reliably. A list of this kit is in the manual. Conducting the test accurately requires a height adjustable table. Manual and worksheets are available as well as comprehensive audio guided training slides.
